The Portland Timbers’ Chilean forward Felipe Mora and Peruvian midfielder Andy Polo got the call from their respective national teams for a pair of matches to play for the 2020 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Timbers are already missing Sebastian Blanco and Jaroslaw Niezgoda both absent with season-ending injuries and Jeremy Ebobisse for five games with a concussion and is on a day-to-day basis.

So far, Felipe Mora already has five caps with La Roja. The Chilean National Team’s first test in the qualifiers will be against his Timbers teammate Andy Polo’s Peruvian National Team on November 13th at 3pm Pacific time and its second qualifier against Venezuela on November 17th at 1pm Pacific time.

Andy Polo has 32 caps with La Inca or Peruvian National Team, another player to miss the playoff match because of his national team duty.

Peru  will be hosting Lionel Messi’s Argentina on November 17 at Lima’s Estadio Nacional in their second match with kickoff at 4:30pm Pacific time.

In the end for the Portland Timbers manager, Giovanni Savarese will have his hands full of how he will implement an effective attack without Felipe Mora on the lineup.

The Timbers open the playoffs against FC Dallas on November 22nd, 2020.
