The Sounders made seven changes from the side that beat Santa Tecla on Wednesday. The game started brightly for LAFC as the two DPs Vela and Rossi conjured a bit if magic with Vela slotting a pass to Rossi. The Argentine curled a gorgeous shot in the eleventh minute into the corner of the net  past a diving Stefan Frei to give LAFC the advantage.

The goal seemed to energize the Sounders which almost immediate response as Nouhou volleys a Cristian Roldan cross that Miller got a piece of. Sounders were definitely on the front foot. Wingo and Nouhou’s speed on the wings giving LAFC fits. Wingo with a cross the face of goal which was just out of Bruins reach. LAFC on the back foot. Sounders got closer to finding the tying goal in the 36th minue with Shipp shooting and Miller stranded Ciman saves off the line. In the 44th minute Sounders with a penalty shout as it looks like Ciman appeared to take Bruin down with a two handed shove. The  Sounders had their chances in the first half  (9-2 shot advantage over LAFC) but lacked a little bit of quality in the final third.

Second half starts with Magnus Wolff Eikrem subbing on for Roman Torres. Svennson slides too centerback. The second starts brightly as the Sounders pushing for a goal. The insertion of Wolff has changed the game adding another attacking element to the game. The Sounders make a second sub in the 64th minute as Homegrown Handwalla Bwana makes his Sounders debut. He rips a shot off the corner and its deflected off the crossbar as he nearly scores on his second touch of the game. That began a sequence of corners that Miller saves or the sounders head over the bar. LAFC scramble defense very good. Riding their luck a little bit. That is the pattern of the second half long spells of Sounder possession and many near chances.

The Sounders nearly score the equalizer but Bruins goal is waved off for offside. Feilhaber cautioned in the 69th. The first card of the match. Alfaro with the first yellow card for he Sounders in the 79th minute with the Sounders still searching for the equalizer. Lamar Neagle subs in for Jordy Delem in the 80th minute as the Sounders are pushing for a goal. Alfaro with a last ditch challenge on Vela gets his second yellow in the 83th minute.

Despite being down a man the Sounders still pushed for the tying goal with LAFC back on their heels. Sounders nearly equalized with substitute Lamar Neagle’s header going just wide. Sounders still with the bulk if chances as we head into 3 minutes of injury time. Sounders earn a free kick in the 92nd minute and Wolff’s service is headed just over the bar by Roldan.
