Tampa Bay Rowdies 1- New York Red Bulls II 2

Saint Petersburg, FL-Three goals in two matches? Not too shabby for New York Red Bulls forward Stefano Bonomo. After having played a critical role in his sides opening round win over the Charleston Battery, Bonomo followed up one incredible performance with another on Saturday night at AL Lang Stadium. With a brace from Bonomo the ‘Baby Bulls’ continued their defense of their USL title with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Bonomo’s goals came in the 58th and 93rd minutes respectively. Although the Rowdies struck first, courtesy of a Georgi Hristov goal in the 23rd minute, they were unable to hold their lead. It was just the second time all season that the Rowdies have dropped points in a match at home after holding a lead.

With the win, the Red Bulls move on to face Louisville City FC in the USL Eastern Conference Finals. The match will be held at Louisville Slugger Field on Saturday with a kickoff time of 7:30 PM EST. It will be streamed on ESPNU.

As for Tampa the loss marks an end to a wild but entertaining first season in the USL. The club finished third in the Eastern Conference regular season standings and made the playoffs for the first time since 2012. This season should be something to build on for 2018 with a hope of better fortunes and possibly some silverware.
