Bundesliga Matchday 9 Round Up

Late comebacks, management shuffles, an American not called Christian Pulisic scores. That and more in the Bundesliga round up of matchday nine.

Bayer Leverkusen had only taken a single point from their road fixtures in the Bundesliga. A match against local rivals Borussia Monchengladbach changed that. American outsider Fabian Johnson scored early for the Foals and nearly tallied a second early in the first half. That momentum was turned around in the second half as Leverkusen found the back of the net five times to get the victory.

Eintracht Frankfurt took full advantage of a make shift defense from Borussia Dortmund. Despite going down 2-0 early in the second half the Eagles made their comeback with the help of a penalty and a boisterous home crowd. Sadly American Timothy Chandler went off injured which will see him out for most of the Bundesliga season.

Bayern Munich took care of business in Hamburg in typical fashion. Hamburg faced up and did well against the reigning champions, but things went wrong when Gideon Jung was sent to the stands for an errant tackle. Jupp Heynckes is still perfect in his return to Bayern, this will be challenged in the DFB Pokal midweek.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

FC Koln and Werder Bremen played to a 0-0 draw. After the match the board for FC Koln acted in an unexpected direction. Jorg Schmadtke, sporting director, was key in returning Koln to the European competition was given his exit.

Schalke 04 continued their resurrection under Domenico Tedesco. A convincing 2-0 victory over Mainz saw the Royal Blues move into the European places.

RB Leipzig continues their brillian form. A convincing victory over VFB Stuttgart saw Leipzig go a point behind Dortmund. A title race is in the making.

Hannover continued their solid start to their Bundesliga return with a 2-1 win over Augsburg. The late goals are just another example of team spirting winning out.

SC Freiburg again earned their stripes on the road. Against Hertha BSC or anyone SC Freiburg is a difficult team to beat when playing in their home confines.

Hoffenheim has been able to get points from difficult situations and against Wolfsburg again it was true. A 1-1 draw that left everyone wishing for more.

Prost Bundesliga Player of the Week

KaI Havertz was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen thrashing Borussia Monchengladbach. His three assists brought the Foals to heel and there is much to expect from him within the freedom afforded to him in this role.
