Bundesliga match day 30 round up

Streak busters, European Qualification, and rallying moments. All that and more in the Bundesliga round up, match day 30 edition.

Hoffenheim has been trailing after European qualification for a while. Since they showed up they have been a middling club despite their financial backing. Under Julian Naglesmann there has finally been that break through. FC Koln was merely able to play Hoffe to a 1-1 draw.

FC Koln for the majority of the match was looking like they would keep all three points when a late equalizer from Demirbay meant a sharing of the points. This draw meant that there will be European football for TSG for the first time in club history.

Borussia Dortmund was seeking a bit of momentum heading into their clash with Bayern in the DFB Pokal Wednesday. The mid week loss to Monaco made things difficult. But responding against Borussia Monchengladbach was vital in ensuring that Dortmund leapfrog Hoffenheim to get that 3rd place in the Bundesliga. Winning 3-2 with so much squad rotation will give a better chance for the Pokal to be sure.

Bayern was not thinking as a collective when they fielded themselves against Mainz. Normally after Europe Bayern is susceptible to dropping points. With Mainz there was an easier target to get three points. Instead Mainz held off Bayern in the second half and two points were dropped in a 2-2 match that had a rather unlikely penalty call occur against the Bavarian’s.

Eintracht Frankfurt had spent most of the second half of the season unable to earn a victory after Valentines Day. Going down early 1-0 a CONCACAF rescue happened to save the Eagles day before the Tuesday Pokal semifinal. Marco Fabian found a pair of second half goals in 10 minutes and a spare by Ante Rebic meant a 3-1 victory for Die Diva von Main.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Max Kruse with an epic 4 goal performance for Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen got an amazing 4-2 victory by Max Kruse who scored all for Bremen.  With this victory over Ingolstadt Bremen is now just outside the European places why the hosts are now four points away from safety.

Darmstadt continues to postpone their relegation. A 2-1 victory at HSV means they are not out yet and Hamburg is not out of relegation trouble yet.

Hertha Berlin continued to pick up points at home as St Louis native Vedad Ibesevic scored the winning in a 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg.

SC Freiburg 2-1 victory means that again they find themselves in the European qualification places beating Bayer Leverkusen.

Schalke couldnt return from Europe with a win, 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig.

Player of the Week

Max Kruse-you do not score four goals and not get recognized for your efforts. Honestly a performance like that will more than likely garner him player of the month honors. With a 4-2 win over Ingolstadt when in the second half Bremen was actually behind, this is a one man show that will be one to savor for some time.
