Twenty-two years is an awful long time to stay with one organization. But for Leigh Cowlishaw and the Richmond Kickers. Since 1993 Cowlishaw has served in one role or another with the USL-based side, first as a player then as a coach. As both a player and a manager his record speaks for itself: three titles, twenty playoff appearances, and of course the 1995 U.S. Open Cup. So how has Cowlishaw done it?

On Friday Prost Amerika editor Sean Maslin spoke with Cowlishaw about his time with the Kickers, their 2017 offseason, the club’s relationship with D.C. United, potential new rivalries with the Ottawa Fury and Tampa Bay Rowdies, and the U.S. Open Cup. There is even a little discussion about the FA Cup.
