The Houston Dash were not able to keep the two goal advantage in the second half, losing to the Seattle Reign at BBVA Compass Stadium in the NWSL regular season finale. The Texas team wanted to finish the season strong in front of their fans, coming out strong from the start of the match. The Dash had already been eliminated from title contention, despite the good results from the last few matches.

During the first half Houston controlled the ball and created several scoring opportunities. It was in the 39th minute when Kealia Ohai finally scored for the home team taking the 1-0 lead. This was the 11th goal of the season for Ohai who finished second in the Golden Boot race. Three minutes later Carli Lloyd scored her 25th NWSL career goal to put the Dash up 2-0 at half time.

Seattle saved the best for last, finding their game in the last 30 minutes of the match. In the 60th minute Melis scored to make it 2-1. The pressure from the Reign continued, paying off when Kim Little tied the game in the 76th minute. The winning goal for the Reign came in the 81st minute when Yanez beat Goalkeeper Lydia Williams to give all three points to a Seattle team that finished the season in fifth place.

Even though this was not the best season for the Dash, they demonstrate that they can be title contenders next season with both experienced players as well as young talent.
