Winters serves as captain of Seattle Reign FC.
Always strong, clever and quick, Keelin Winters came up big for the Reign in a game they needed to win in order to keep playoff hopes alive. Her consistency in midfield has been a Seattle staple that the fans look forward to seeing each game. In her last match at Memorial Stadium Winters’ goal had everyone on their feet, with raucous applause from both the crowd and the team, in a genuine show of love for their departing captain.
Born in Ohio, Winters moved around as a child, attending high school in Colorado and then eventually heading to the University of Portland for college. Named captain of the U20 Women’s National Team, she was a part of the 2008 FIFA U20’s Women’s World Cup championship team. Winters has played for Seattle Reign FC since the inaugural season, going on loan to the Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014 where she was the team’s leading scorer. Winters is set to retire after this season.

*The Prost Eisen Frauen (Iron Women) award is given by Prost Amerika to “the toughest women on the field” each week. Not just for a spectacular goal or incredible save, it’s in recognition of a game’s worth of work. The athlete chosen is one that impacts the match through their dedication to winning every play. Each week five athletes (one from each of the games played) will be up for nomination.
The award is voted on by the writers/photographers of Prost Amerika who cover the NWSL, as well as the Supporter Groups of the teams.
