D.C. United put an end to a six-game win-less streak, at home, last week, with a 2-0 win against Portland Timbers. This win may also mean a better month to the Black-and-Red than July with three ties and two losses.

This Sunday, the Black-and-Red team will need to repeat their performance, and the same mindset they had against Portland. To get three more points against their biggest rival in the Atlantic Cup and third place in the Eastern Conference, New York Red Bulls would improve their odds of qualifying for the Eastern Conference playoffs.

United (6W-8L-9T), sitting in sixth place in the conference, need the victory to move forward and have a spot in the playoffs while New York (10W-9L-6T) still sits comfortable in third place and with a six game win streak at home.

In their previous encounter in May at RFK Stadium Unite won 2-0 with Alvaro Saborío scoring right in the 20th minute. Patrick Nyarko doubled their no more than two minutes after.

This will be their second match during the regular season this year, and the 70th overall (34ftw-25l-10t). United have won 21 times out of the previous 36 meetings at the RFK.
