Philadelphia Union announced that French midfielder Vincent Nogueira and the club have agreed to mutually terminate the midfielders contract. This comes as a surprise to many Union fans as Nogueira has established himself as one of the most technically astute central midfielders in the league. His departure will surely be a detriment to the Union midfield, which has been excelling above expectations this year. The only saving grace being that captain and designated player Maurice Edu should return from injury soon, and will be sorely needed to fill in the gap Nogueira left.

The Philadelphia Union cited the departure was due to “personal health issues”, and that the midfielder will return to France to be with family and friends. Speculation will surely arise what the true reason behind his termination. Without more information, however speculation will only lead to empty rumors and fruitless gossip. For the time being Philadelphia will have to fill the hole Vincent left, which may mean signing a new player.

Nogueira started 58 games for the Union, and made 6 appearances as a substitute, since joining Philadelphia on January 30, 2014 from FC Sochaux. He scored 9 goals and notched 3 assists.
