Starting XI

David Ousted 7.0
Another game and he was let down by his defenders with a sloppy play and he didn’t get a clean sheet. Only had to make two saves but you know he is itching to get a clean sheet.

Aird and Waston run down the Fire striker.

Fraser Aird 6.5
Didn’t have a great game and was average at best. He is better than Jordan Smith but he needs to be a little better covering crosses into the box from his side of the pitch.

Kendall Waston 7.0
It took 12 games but Waston is finally suspended for a game due to yellow card accumulation. Who had 12 games in the pool? Played a very physical game and was the only defender to step up when Chicago was coming on strong to start the second half.

Tim Parker 6.5
Has been struggling the past few games. After starting out the gate strong this season, he has looked a step behind and slower the past few weeks. He needs a game or two on the bench and with the number of games coming up with MLS and Canadian Championship he will get some much needed rest.

Jordan Harvey 7.0
Has for sure been the best defender this season for the Whitecaps, was the best defender last night in the game. He can still be better not only for himself but for his keeper Ousted.

Pedro Morales 7.5
Has settled nicely into the deep midfielder role the past two games. Had a perfect over the top ball to Bolanos to set-up the first Blas Perez goal. Being farther back on the pitch means he gets the ball easier from the Whitecaps defenders. The more times the ball is in his feet the better for the team.

Matias Laba 7.5
Very strong game for Laba this game. Needs to be a little more defensively sound lining up next to Morales then say he was with a Teibert or Jacobson. With Morales next to him there is too much of a gap between himself and Morales with the defenders.

Christian Bolanos 7.0
Didn’t get his 4th goal in his fourth game but had a great assist on the first Perez goal of the game. Was looking pretty gassed near the end of the game and more of a defensive liability at the finish.

Nicolas Mezquida 7.0
Another solid game in the attacking midfielder role for Mezquida. Has settled in nicely in this role covering for Morales when he was injured. Has been playing so well Robinson had to find a role for Morales to fit him into the starting lineup.

Techera will a great back track.

Cristian Techera 6.0
Has been the less effective Whitecap player for a few games now. Don’t know if he picked up a niggle and he is playing through it or if with the suspension to Manneh last game their is no other options. Was subbed off for a fresh Erik Hurtado at the end of the game.

Masato Kudo 6.5
His injury was the scariest moment supporters at BC Place have ever seen. It was hard to see the first time and it’s harder to watch every time you see the reply. It is diagnosed a concussion and a fractured jaw and he will be out a few months.

Blas Perez 9.5
Came on for the injured Kudo and make the best out of the situation. His first goal was a great hustle play where he made a beeline for the goal and got rewarded with a Bolanos cross into the box. His 2nd goal is easily the MLS goal of the year to this point. A 89` minute fully extended bicycle kick to win the game is stuff that makes a player a fan favourite. Only thing that could of made the strike better is if it was against FC Dallas.

Kekuta Manneh 7.0
Came on for a tired Mezquida in the 66th minute and wasn’t really able to make an impact on the game. Yes he got the assist of the Perez game winning goal but other than that wasn’t that noticeable.

Erik Hurtado 7.0
Another game and another run for Hurtado of a few minutes. Was subbed on in the 84` minute and didn’t have an opportunity to get involved in the game.
