In the video below, Prost Amerika columnist Alan Hinton discussed the Sounders’ and Major League Soccer’s offseason changes, last week’s English Premier League matches and the Copa America matches coming to the U.S. later this year.

“The Sounders for me look strong. I think they’re more signings about to come. Obviously, Jordy (Jordan) Morris is one they’re hoping to get. I think the Sounders will have another good year.”

The Sounders decided to focus more on youth by not renewing the contracts, trading or the retirements of several key veterans that included: forward Chad Barrett, defender Leo Gonzalez, midfielder Marco Pappa, goalkeeper Troy Perkins and midfielder Gonzalo Pineda. Hinton noted the loss of these experienced players reduced the average age of the squad.

A key element for the Sounders this season may be forward Jordan Morris. After Stanford won the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, Morris turned pro and decided to train with German side SV Werder Bremen during their winter break. The Sounders have offered the Seattle native a contract to play for them. Hinton cautioned Morris about making a rash decision to play in Germany.

With the 2016 Copa America competition heading to America this summer, the former Derby County winger shared his thoughts on the tournament and the high level of interest its generated.
