Prost Amerika’s book about the historic 2015 Portland Timbers MLS Cup winning season is now on presale at Powells. To honor the first ever Timbers and the club’s founding year, the presale price is set at a symbolic $19.75, 1975 being the year of the club’s formation.

The book will include a foreword by the legendary Timber Jim Serrill and articles by our Portland based team of beat writers including Matt Hoffman, Kristen Gehrke, Niall McCusker and Diego Diaz who experienced the highs and the lows then the very very highest of Portland’s amazing season from the press box (and almost certainly) the bars of the Rose City.

Hoffman and McCusker review the regular season, then fans can relive the amazing last three games in Ed Pham’s chapter “The Surge”.

There’s a bit about the playoffs too and something that happened in Ohio. But we don’t want to ruin the surprise with spoilers.

Photographer Diego Diaz is separated long enough from his camera to write a personalized tribute to Portland’s South American influence and finally we ask the question “Where do the Timbers go from Here?”, is this the start of an LA Galaxy dynasty or a one off with views from skipper Will Johnson and one man who would know the answer better than anyone, 2010 MLS Cup Winning coach Gary Smith.

But far from being just a parochial view of the triumph, the book will include the thoughts from the rest of Cascadia as our Seattle beat writers weigh in, plus reactions from Supporters Group leaders in Seattle and Vancouver. Oh yes – and Cascadia legend Alan Hinton is totally ‘unleashed’ by veteran journalist John Zielonka. Columbus beat writer Nino Torres writes about he fell in love with the Timbers Army who sent a ‘green arrow’ into the heart of Columbus.

Experienced globe trotting BBC journalist Richard Fleming pens a more international view of the Timbers triumph in “How the West was Won” and there are personality profiles of some of the larger than life figures in Portland’s soccer community.

And a wedding.

This book is a must for any Timbers fan or even fan of US soccer history, and their friends, and their cats. A great buy for any upcoming festival of religious significance.
