Only just a little while ago Peter Vermes stepped up to the podium claiming that Swope Park Rangers would help the mother club Sporting Kansas City develop their talent. Now they have come through with their first manager.

Marc Dos Santos was recent honored with the NASL coach of the year as he led the Ottawa Fury FC to the fall season championship, he continues the strong run in making the NASL championship game the Soccer Bowl.

Bringing in someone like Dos Santos who has considerable coaching experience in the minor league levels with Montreal Impact before their transition to MLS along with the Impact’s previous minor league team Trois-Rivieres Attak the head of the Swope Park Rangers is the right person that will not only assist the mother club in developing their young talent but making them competitive in a large and growing league that the USL is.

In addition to announcing the new coach former Sporting Kansas City player and KC native Christian Duke was signed as the first player to the team

Selected in the 2013 Supplemental Draft from the University of San Diego, Christian had been part of the youh setup from Sporting. He was also one of the first players to be sent out to the then USL Affiliate Orlando City that year along with Dom Dwyer, Jon Kempin and Yann Songo’o playing a key part in their championship winning campaign. In 2014 Duke spent the entire 2014 season on loan at USL Affiliate Oklahoma City Energy FC before signing for the club permanently for the 2015 season.
