The celebrations will be in full flow as Sporting Kansas City returns to Sporting Park for a presentation ceremony for their third major trophy in four seasons Thursday afternoon. Here are how the players performed.

Tim Melia-9 with a pair of penalty saves and three massive saves during regular and extra time totally deserves Man of the Match honors

Seth Sinovic-5 subbed off got skinned a pair of times of which one gave up the goal to the Union, just looked turned around by the Philly forwards

Kevin Ellis-5 held his own as much as he could, converted his penalty shot, but got beat a number of times by former teammate CJ Sapong

Matt Besler-7 converted his penalty with some vigor, was very good at keeping the defense as tight as he could organize them, made key tackles when needed putting in a needed performance

Chance Myers-4 somehow missed being yellow carded, didnt have a good game at all, subbed off and looked hurt, got beat a few times

Soni Mustivar-5 subbed off, misses his connection with Roger Espinoza something fierce, performed adequately, injury seemed to force him off

Paulo Nagamura-6 had one chance late that could’ve been converted, created more than the usual man Feilhaber, converted penalty

Benny Feilhaber-6 converted penalty, was marked well and kept from providing much towards the normal attack, effort put forth couldn’t be underestimated

Kriszten Nemeth-8 despite having penalty saved was the real attacking spark that kept the Union from being comfortable, beautiful curling shot for equalizing goal, worth his weight in goal this year

Dom Dwyer-5 converted penalty, marked tightly, had very little impact all game, didn’t just accept role but little could be and was done

Graham Zusi-6 converted penalty, assisted in equalizing goal, very quiet game

Subs

Jordi Quintilla-7 came on for Mustivar, was working considerably hard, penalty won the match after stepping up prior to Peterson, he wanted it and won it

Saad Abdul-Salaam-6 came on for Sinovic, performed even better than the starter, his progression has been substantial, more than held his own against the Union attack

Jacob Peterson-5 came on for Myers with 8 left, gets credit for slotting in and being such a utility man, him giving Jordi the chance to win wont be forgotten
