An exuberant Alan Hinton celebrated Sepp Blatter’s decision to resign his post as the head of FIFA in the latest Hinton Unleashed. The Prost Amerika columnist also shared his thoughts on this weekend’s Champions League matchup between Barcelona and Juventus, and the start of the Women’s World Cup in Canada.

Blatter departs FIFA

“I’m thrilled he’s out of there…Let’s find a person who’s honorable.”

With Blatter’s resignation, Hinton, who played for the English National Team in the 60s, felt the time was right for England to host a World Cup since 1966. As for a potential replacement, Hinton viewed current UEFA president Michel Platini as a bad choice due to his close alignment with Blatter.

Hinton anticipates a changed FIFA organization that would now clean house and clear it of its reputation for rampant corruption.

Champions League Final: Barcelona vs Juventus

“Its got all the ingredients of a great game.”

The former First Division player saw the Barcelona and Juventus as an intriguing clash with both sides chasing a treble. Barcelona won La Liga and Copa del Rey, while Juventus finished atop Serie A by 17 points and was victorious in the Coppa Italia competition.

Hinton noted the game would pit Juventus’ excellent defense against a Barcelona offense led by Lionel Messi.

Women’s World Cup

“The fact that the World Cup for the women is in Canada is fantastic. It was a great choice to go there.”

In his final comments in this week’s video, Hinton raved about the competitiveness in this year’s edition of the Women’s World Cup and Canada as the host country.
