24′ Octavio Rivero delightfully skipped around the Salt Lake defense before cutting back to Koffie. The Ghanaian inexplicably cannons it off the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.
32′ Techera’s corner is easily cleared at the front post, Rosales picks up the rebound setting up Kah to rise and head narrowly wide.
36′ Practice makes perfect for Javier Morales. His first set piece gets up and over the wall nicely but Ousted is quick to get behind the effort.
37′ GOAL End to end stuff leads to Gershon Koffie nicking the ball off Plata before smashing an unstoppable shot past the flailing Rimando.
45′ GOAL The Whitecaps created chance after chance but a lack of finish eluded them. Javier Morales hit back with one of his own trademark free kicks. With the Vancouver wall poorly placed, Morales smashed an absolute beauty finding the space in the wall to round Ousted.
50′ Vancouver somehow managed to keep the ball from crossing the line after a mass scramble in the box. This was just the beginning of a slack opening to the second half by Vancouver as Javier Morales bullied play.
60′ Laba sent Rivero in on goal but Rimando stood up until the last second to keep out the Uruguayan.
64′ Ousted showed Rimando that the US international isn’t the only keeper in the league with cat-like reflexes. The Dane kept out Vasquez’s powerful header with a strong left hand.
67′ Pedro Morales roofs a cross to Waston in the area, but again Rimando stretches and holds. Another important performance from the US international to keep the ‘Caps out and his side in the match.
79′ GOAL Techera capitalizes on a defensive mix up between Rimando and Vasquez to prod in his first Vancouver Whitecaps goal, a goal that turned out to be the winner.
