Vancouver Whitecaps vs Colorado Rapids 23 May 2015-2
Starters:

David Ousted 7.5

– Really had no chance on the one goal that he did let in. Other than that he made some big saves to keep his teammates in the game. Needs to have the team in front of him bail him out in one of these games instead of Ousted always having to bail them out.

Steven Beitashour 6.5

– One of his better games in a long time this season. He was solid on all the over the top balls that the Rapids tried to spray over his head down the wing. Jumped up nicely down the wing to join the offence and kept the Rapids defenders on their toes.
Kendall Waston 8.0

– Was solid again in all clearances in the defensive box. Was a beast and didn’t give an inch at all. Got called on a silly yellow where he got all ball, the call looked like it was based on reputation and not actual contact. Showed some fire and determination in the last few minutes playing up front as a striker.

Pa Modou Kah 7.5

– Got called for a foul during the Pedro Morales free kick goal that was called back. Other then that it was one of his best outings this season. He didn’t make that one big mistake that we are use to see him making every game this season.

Jordan Harvey 7.0

– Has stepped in nicely the past few weeks. He was surprised to lose his starting spot to young Sam Adekugbe and hasn’t whined or complained about it. His hard work in training has made it easy for Carl Robinson to insert him into the starting 11 and have no worries. Jumped up the wing nicely in the game and had some great runs into the offensive box.
Gershon Koffie 5.5

– Took a silly yellow card and was guilty of complaining way too many times when he got knocked down and the ref didn’t make a call on it. Should have been subbed off for Morales instead of Matias Laba. Hopefully Russell Teibert is healthy enough for next week against RSL.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Colorado Rapids 23 May 2015-9
Matias Laba 6.5

– Was his usual great self and helped shut down the middle of the pitch. Would of been even better if he had some help from his defensive midfield partner Gershon Koffie. Wasn’t able to show his offensive ability like he did last game versus FC Edmonton.

Kianz Froese 6.0

– Was expecting more from the young Canadian in this game. Was hoping to see him get more involved with Octavio Rivero playing off each other in the top of the pitch. Last few games Rivero has look like a striker stranded by himself on an island with no support. Will need some consistent run of minutes in the busy few months coming up.

Mauro Rosales 6.0

– Was targeted all game long and knocked down time and time again. It was enough to throw him off his game and make his impact less noticeable. Teams have done this all season and it seems to be the way to play Rosales and be effective.

Kekuta Manneh 6.0

– Should not be starting for this team. If you include this game he has been ineffective and not able to make an impact for the past four games. Made some nice runs down the wing but ran the ball straight in the defenders legs time and time again. Should be sent to the bench and used as a super sub, it has been the only way he has been effective in his career.
Octavio Rivero 7.5

– Had some great hold ups but didn’t have any players that where good enough to give him an chance to make anything out of it. Made some great runs past defenders but just wasn’t able to get any good looks at the Rapids goal. His lack of servicing before Morales came on to the pitch was disappointing. He is just one player and can’t do it by himself.

Subs:

Cristian Techera (min 62′) 6.5

– Should have started the game over Manneh this week. Has fit in nicely since joining the Whitecaps. Still needs to find his proper role on this team. Has done well playing the wing and is getting some nice runs all over the pitch.

Darren Mattocks (min 70′) 6.0

– Way better then his sub last week that was a complete wasted of a sub. Might be time to switch to a 4-4-2 and play Mattocks and Rivero up top as the pair of strikers.

Pedro Morales (min 77′) 7.0

– Coming off a full 90 minutes Wednesday against FC Edmonton Morales was too tired to start this game. Came off the bench and managed to get players in front of him involved and added a spark. Was able to score an amazing goal off a free kick but was called back for a foul.
