Sporting KC v Philly Union gallery

Sporting KC won a topsy-turvy inter conference encounter at Sporting Park on Sunday with two very late goals.

The home side were trailing 1-2 with the clock ticking down when in the 88th minute, the Union had a gilt-edged opportunity to close the game out.

Fernando Aristeguieta was put clean through on SKC keeper Marin. Lacking the confidence to finish, he recycled and the ball rebounded to Seb Le Toux who hit the post. Still it fell kindly to Michael Lahoud who inexplicably shot over.

The next minutes were the stuff of Union fans’ night mares as they fell to pieces. Jalil Anibaba scored his first MLS goal since 2013 in stoppage time and if that was a surprise, the SKC winner was not seconds later.

Krisztian Nemeth who seems set to be a league new player of the year contender popped up from the bench to add the winner amid calamitous defending.
