Hinton Unleashed: Evans had a night…he would love to forget

In this week’s Hinton Unleashed episode, Seattle soccer analyst and pundit Alan Hinton sat down with Prost Amerika’s John Zielonka to review the latest in the world of soccer.

Hinton shared his thoughts on Sounders FC defender Brad Evans’ performance in last weekend’s 3-2 loss to San Jose, UEFA Champions League, Sunday’s game between Liverpool and Manchester United, and the Derby County and Wolverhampton Championship matchup on Friday.

Brad Evans

In his second game as Seattle’s starting central defender, Evans played a role in all three of San Jose’s tallies as the Sounders fell 3-2 to the Quakes for their first loss of the year.

“He (Evans) had a night against San Jose that he would love to forget.”

Hinton felt Evans would rebound from last Saturday’s debacle.

Champions League

With the Champions League down to eight teams, the Prost Amerika analyst identified the side who would win it all.

“If I had to pick a team to win it, I’d pick Bayern Munich.”

Premier League

Hinton identified the Liverpool and Manchester United clash as one of the games he was keen to watch this weekend.

“They’ve (ManU) had a terrible time under Louis van Gaal, but it looks, maybe, as if they’re turning the corner.”

Manchester United holds a two-point edge over Liverpool for fourth place EPL table and a slot in next year’s Champions League.

 Derby County

Friday’s Championship matchup between Derby County and Wolverhampton conflicted Hinton. He played for both sides in his days as a winger in the old First Division.

Hinton favored the Rams, who held one of the two automatic slots for promotion to the Premier League at the beginning of March. He was worried about Derby’s five-match winless streak and its impact on their Premier League aspirations.
