Vancouver Whitecaps player ratings versus Chicago Fire

Ousted 9.0

Made four huge saves to keep the Whitecaps in the game. Was great at making himself big to cut down the shooting angles. Didn’t have the best support from the defenders in front of him but bailed them out with his huge saves.

Beitashour 5.5

Got sucked into the middle of the pitch way too many times. By doing this he left the wing open allowing the Fire way too many easy runs into the box. That’s two games in a row where he has struggled with his defensive positioning.

Waston 7.0

Got the early yellow but settled in nicely after that. Was still a little sloppy from time to time but considering how prone he is to yellow cards he did enough to make sure he didn’t pick up a sending off.

Kah 7.0

Got beat a few times, and lunged for the ball only to have the striker run right around him. Didn’t show the speed necessary to be able to catch up to the player once they ran past him.

Adekugbe 8.5

A great game for the young Canadian for only his 3rd start of his young MLS career. Showed his speed down the wing and jumped into the attack time and time again. Made some mistakes defensively but overall was the best defender on the pitch.

Laba 7.5

A solid game for Laba. This is expected out of him week in week out and he didn’t disappoint. Could of been a little tighter in the defensive midfield to stop some of the counter attack chances that the Fire had.

Teibert 8.0

Is settling in nicely to his deeper role in this starting eleven. He improved over last week with his ability to jump into the play on the counter attack. Next week he will need to make sure he partners well with Laba to shut down Orlando City SC Designated Player Kaka.

Rosales 5.5

Before he got injured he was struggling in the first half. Was sloppy on crosses and his service into the box. Could have set up a lot of chances had his crosses been up to par with his abilities. The word from Carl Robinson is that he could be out 6 to 8 weeks with an ankle injury.

Pedro Morales should be ready to show he can play from home this season.

Morales is still trying to shake off the rust.

Morales 5.5

Two games in and two games he has struggled. Other than the first 40 minutes against TFC he has been a below average player. Two brutal missed chances that any player of his caliber should score.

Manneh 6.0

Played really well on the left side of the pitch with Adekugbe. Needs to be able to strike the ball with confidence with his left foot. Too many times he tried to cut it back to his right foot only to turn the ball over.

Rivero 8.0

Two games and two goals to his name. Just like last week should have had two or three but I like what I see from him. Puts himself in the right places on the pitch to get his chances and didn’t stop harassing the opposition all game long.

Mezquida 6.5

Came on just before half for the injured Roslaes. Was able to jump into the play and almost had a goal after being clipped from behind. With the injury it may be a blessing for him to get some starts in the coming weeks.

Mattocks 6.5

Looks like he may have the super sub role this season like Manneh had last season. Will get his chances but only if he can show enough hustle in his limited minutes.

Koffie 6.0

Was better then last week but that isn’t saying much when he was brutal last week. Only had a few minutes on the pitch but it will do well for his confidence moving forward.

Vancouver Whitecaps next game is March 21 versus new MLS expansion team Orlando City SC.
