Bradford continue giant killing cup run; 5 more EPL sides exit

The 2015 FA Cup continues to throw out shocks and surprises.

Bradford City who shocked English football by coming back from 2-0 down to stun Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge in the 4th round claimed another Premier League scalp defeating Sunderland 2-0 at Valley Parade on Sunday.

FA Cup.jpgAfter taking an early lead through a John O’Shea own goal, Jon Stead scored for the fifth successive round to help put Bradford into the quarter-finals watched by 24,021, their biggest home crowd for more than half a century. The Bantams enter the 1/4 final for the first time in 35 years.

They are now just one win away from Wembley where the semi finals take place.

Middlesbrough, conquerors of Manchester City, could not repeat the feat and went down 2-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Having sacked Paul Lambert in midweek, Aston Villa narrowly beat Leicester 2-1 in a midlands derby. Newly appointed coach Tim Sherwood watched from the stands but did not select or coach the side. Leandro Bacuna and Scott Sinclair were on target for the Villains.

The previous day saw three more EPL sides eliminated. Two London sides, West Ham and Crystal Palace went down to West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool respectively. In another exit to a lower league side, EPL Stoke City were hammered 4-1 at Blackburn Rovers.

Reading won at 10 man Derby County to join Arsenal and as the sole southern representation in the last eight. There are 4 EPL sides with the possibility of a fifth im Manchester United beat Preston North End on Monday.
