Sounders FC utility player Eriq Zavaleta has been traded. The club receive a Second Round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

Zavaleta ended up the 2014 season on loan at Chivas and his now heading to Toronto FC where he will add to the new faces.

Seattle Sounders FC has traded the rights to forward Eriq Zavaleta to Toronto FC in exchange for a Second Round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced today.

“We want to thank Eriq for his service to our club,” said Sounders FC Head Coach Sigi Schmid. “We wish him the best of luck in Toronto and throughout his career.”

Zavaleta, 22, was the club’s First Round selection (10th overall) in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. He made five appearances with Seattle as a rookie in 2013 before being loaned to Chivas USA for the 2014 season. The Indiana product and 2012 Big 10 Player of the Year started 15 of 17 appearances for the Goats.

Sounders FC resumes its 2015 preseason presented by adidas this week at Starfire Sports before traveling to Southern California on Thursday, January 29 for a nine-day camp at Mt. San Antonio College.
