A release from Portland Police has announced that the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force have arrested two Santa Clara CA residents in connection with an incident that took place at an earlier league match between the Portland Timbers and the San Jose Earthquakes.
The match took place in April and many fans reported an incident which began when a female Quakes fan appeared to threaten people inside a vehicle.
One of the two arrested today is a female, 29-year-old Jennifer Marques. Also named is 21-year-old Uriel Vargas.

According to the Police Statement:
“Additional suspects in this case have been identified and charges for these suspects are pending.”
Ms Marques and Mr Vargas will be extradited to Oregon and ultimately booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

On August 28, 2013, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested two suspects in Santa Clara, California, for their involvement in the assault of a Portland Timbers fan in April 2013 in Portland, Oregon.
29-year-old Jennifer Marques and 21-year-old Uriel Vargas were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. A Multnomah County Grand Jury, after reviewing the evidence presented, charged Marques with Assault in the Fourth Degree, Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct.
The Multnomah County Grand Jury, after reviewing the evidence presented, charged Vargas with Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct.
Marques and Vargas will be extradited to Oregon and ultimately booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Additional suspects in this case have been identified and charges for these suspects are pending.
This investigation began on Sunday April 14, 2013, at approximately 5:30 p.m., when Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to West Burnside Street and 6th Avenue on the report of a crowd people jumping on cars, throwing bottles, being rowdy, and assaulting the victim, 40-year-old James Decker of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
As officers were en route, other officers and witnesses reported that the crowd was mostly soccer fans, associated with the San Jose Earthquakes heading to Jeld Wen Field for a soccer match between the Portland Timbers and the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division would like to thank the public for their timely tips and information which led directly to the identification and eventual arrest of those responsible for the assault.
