Amy Rodriguez out for 2013

Amy Rodriguez is set to miss the 2013 NWSL season.

The newly acquired Seattle Reign player has become pregnant.

Rodriguez, 25, was one of three U.S. WNT members allocated to the Reign. Rodriguez is not the only absence new Reign Head coach Laura Harvey has to contend with.

The club has also been informed that Megan Rapinoe and Teresa Noyola will both be joining the club in June. Rapinoe is currently under contract with Olympique Lyonnais in France while Noyola is under contract with Dutch club ADO Den Haag.

Harvey commented:

“Amy’s pregnancy came as quite a surprise and has introduced some
challenges that we are now beginning to work through. We expect a huge boost mid-‐season when Rapinoe and Noyola join the club, but in the meantime we will address the gaps created by the absences of Rodriguez, Rapinoe and Noyola through free agent signings and the supplemental draft next week.”

8 teams compromise the new NWSL.
