Starfire is capable of an intimate atmosphere
The new womens franchise Seattle Reign will play their home games at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.
The side is preparing for the first season in the new NWSL and broke the news on their Facebook page this morning.
Club GM Amy Carnell called it ‘an enticing choice’ and revealed they had also looked at Memorial Stadium, Reign owner Bill Predmore said it was their first choice from the beginning on a Conference Call.
He also revealed that NWSL was negotiating a national television deal with four stations and he expected a game of the week type program. He doubted there would be any local tv deal for Reign games but every match would be streamed live online.
New head coach Laura Harvey, now back in London, revealed that the club has scouts out looking for more players and would be at the Algarve Cup and Cyprus Cup but agreed that the restriction on two international players was good for the domestic game.
The schedule would be out early to mid February. Predmore promised more announcements on signings before then and said the league had allowed them to make four new signings under certain cap constraints.
They were currently talking to three players.

It would have been so awesome if they played at Memorial. I understand the surface is currently horrible, but I think they would have drawn double the crowd to Memorial than they would in Tukwilla.

In my travels for work today, I saw a poster for the Everett Reign women’s football team, wonder if there will be any conflict there?
