Salt Lake Getting Saltier after Cull Begins

The salt  quotient in Real Salt Lake is on the rise after the announcement of four new departures this morning.

Former Whitecap Steele is among those looking for a new club

Real Salt Lake have declined the contract options of Northern Irish midfielder Jonny Steele, goalkeeper Kyle Reynish, and two promising offensive players Emiliano Bonfigli and Paulo Jr.

With the impending departures of Will Johnson, Jamison Olave and Fabian Espindola, this is beginning to look more like emptying the warehouse than a mere stock renewal.

Forward Luis Gil has escaped so far and it seems certain that either Kreis places very high hopes in him, or that a big name forward is on the way in.

As the transfer merry-go-round opens, two things are clear; firstly that an era is at an end in Utah.

Secondly though RSL fans can expect some incoming players to fill the gaps. They will need the cheer as the news of so many fan favourites falls on them like Cascadian rain in the Utah desert.

  1. I was hoping you would get in on the one day trading window… Will we be able to compile a list of out of contract players entered into Fridays re-entry draft ???

    • Paulo Jr. might be good for our forward rotation…

    • I think MLS will compile one. I was going to take a day off but I missed all of you.
