Los Angeles Galaxy Player Ratings

LA Galaxy Player Ratings

Josh Saunders 5.5 /10 Dealt poorly in second minute with Clark shot straight at him. Then fluffed a catch from a Davis free. Then a poor clearance. All within four minutes. Did better to reach a  Moffat through ball before Bruin and left little chance at the goal. Good save from Carr header in second half. Still, LA will be examining this slot as part of their overhaul.

Todd Dunivant 6.5/10 Was the full back that had more work to do as Houston did their attacking until Ching down the left. Coped – as ever – admirably and meant any Houston possession came to naught’

Omar Gonzalez 7.5/10: Great clearance in 15 when anything else would have given out a goal opportunity. Played Carr onside at the goal. Great leap for goal at the back post and superbly directed header. Given the hang time, an astonishing amount of pace to supplement the great direction. Delivered another good interception.

Tommy Meyer 7/10: He read an interception well early to break down another Houston dangerous through pass. Won good header early.

Sean Franklin 6/10: An easier day than he might have expected as Boniek received so little ball wide right.

David Beckham 6.5/10 Bad tackle with his first action in 6. Great feed to Keane for what should have been the opener after the Irishman found Landon Donovan. Fine tackle in second to deny a goal scoring chance. His life in American will be written about elsewhere.

Juninho 7/10: Finely timed tackle to deny Houston attack and had a busy first half. Delivered the best cross of the game for LA’s opener. (off in 76)

Top marks for Omar Gonzalez

Mike Magee 7/10: Headed downward and over and did everything right except hit an open goal from four yards away. Connected everything and worked hard in first half. His bicycle kick produced the hand ball. Perhaps only when Beckham goes will his contribution be adequately appreciated.

Christian Wilhelmsson 5.5/10 Plenty of early involvement at right mid but well handled by Ashe. (off in 74)

Robbie Keane 7/10: Great feed to Donovan in first half but came more into his forte in the second where his dribbling  and a long range effort caused more problems than his passing. His penalty was a well deserved reward for a fine season even if he sold it just a little. Not the new Beckham for this league but he has done very well and all fans should welcome him back.

Landon Donovan 6/10 Missed superb chance in 13 but slotted home penalty coolly. Seemed out of sorts for the first half hour and improved gradually throughout. Still – he seems to have something on his mind.

Edson Buddle (74) – insufficient impact for a mark

Michael Stephens (on in 76) – insufficient impact for a mark

Sarvas ( on in 90) – – insufficient impact for a mark
