Houston Player Ratings

Tally Hall 6.5/10: Despite LA possession, little actual work in first half. Good awareness and balance when forced to clear outside the box in second half. Penalised for foul in 90th. He claims he pushed the ball away first but the game was lost by then.

Corey Ashe 7.5/10: Repeatedly too far back when Davis or Moffat looked out left for an option, possibly due to marshaling Wilhelmmsson which he did well. Worked hard though forcing the Swede into less dangerous areas.

Kofie Sarkodie 6.5/10: Could have tested Saunders more with a shot from the right in 25. Save was a little easier than Saunders should have expected. Was useful in bolstering the attack but delivery was too often delayed by the entire side. (off in 76)

Bobby Boswell 6/10: Defecleted an Omar Gonzaelz header over in the second half. Could have been a vital touch. A yellow for a cynical trip on Keane but it slowed down LA when they were on fire. Not enough to stop them taking the lead.

Jermaine Taylor 7/10: Bad give away early to play his side into a prolonged spell of defence. But an excellent interception later. Great and superbly tackle at start of second half. And he nutmegged Wilhelmsson. Looks a classier act in every passing month. Houston’s best player on the day outside defenders.

Adam Moffat 6/10: He and Davis swapped too many passes and then surrendered possession in the opening half. Fantastic through ball for Carr after a languid first half earned him an extra point but still not his best day.(off in 71)

Ricardo Clark 5.5/10: Stung Saunders hands early. Unfortunately it was his own hands that caused his side to fall behind when he was penalised for a handball. Directed a header straight at the keeper in the closing stages. It was Houston’s last chance. You have to put them to one side of the keeper.

Brad Davis 5.5/10:  Wasteful in possession. First half set pieces were below par. No player did himself less justice than Brad Davis. Shame. He’s a better player than today’s outing.

Boniek Garcia 5.5/10: Little early impact despite solid Houston possession. Finally put his head down and ran at them which produced a corner. We didn’t see the best of him today. Like a few others.

Calen Carr 6.5/10: Ambitious effort on the volley which flew over but why not have a go? Fine finish from him in 43 from superb through ball. Should have had second with second half header though did make Saunders work at least. (off in 58 through injury)

Will Bruin 5/10: Invisible in first half. Directed a clear header poorly on second half corner. An off day with little service.

Macoumba Kandji (on in 58) 6.5/10: Caused some problems on the Houston left but never threatened too much danger. Still an improvement on what went before down that side.

Giles Barnes (on in 71) – insignificant impact for a mark

Brian Ching (on in 76) 6/10: First touch was a over the shoulder flick to set up Bruin on a right wing run. Entry energized his side a little. Hope he has one more year in him even if just for cameos.
