As if their resources were not depleted enough, Sounders FC will have to allow Mario Martinez to fly to Texas this week.
He has been called in by the Honduras National Team for a November 14 friendly against Peru at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
The Seattle side have a second leg match against LA Galaxy on Sunday having lost the first leg 3-0.
There is better news for both sides from Stockholm. Neither Adam Johannson or Christian Wilhelmsson have been selected for the Sweden squad to face England in a friendly.
Martinez, 23, has 21 caps for Honduras, including four recent World Cup Qualifiers, and he also participated in the 2012 London Olympics.
He scored the winning goal in Seattle’s Western Conference Semifinal Series against Real Salt Lake last week.
Martinez will return to Seattle on Thursday. FIFA regulations require that a club release a player for a 48 hour period for a friendly.
