Canadian international Will Johnson spoke to Prost Amerika immediately after the Seattle leg of his club’s two legged match with Sounders FC.

Prost Amerika: You seem to revel in the atmosphere of having that large crowd.

Will Johnson: Yeah, we enjoy playing here. It’s really fun. The crowd gets into it hardcore and it’s a fantastic atmosphere to play in for sure.

Prost Amerika: Does that partly explain why this club has such a good record here?

Will Johnson: I think so. I think we enjoy playing here. We thrive in the cooker if you will. They bring it, and it just makes us ultra focused and makes us bring it as well.

Prost Amerika: You’re a midfielder, obviously not a striker or defender, so how do you see four consecutive 0-0 draws? Do you praise the defense, or do you have a go at the forwards?

Will Johnson: It depends. I think there’s chances out there for both teams. There were a few good efforts, a few good saves by both keepers. I just thought it was a good game, back and forth. A lot of good defense. At this level with two competitive teams, you only get two or three chances, and so it was tough. The keeper comes up big on those opportunities, you end up with 0-0 games.

Prost Amerika: As you know, Canadians are famous for not swearing. You must have been close to an expletive beneath your breath at one of those Rimando saves?

Will Johnson: Yeah, I was saying incredible. The guy’s been doing that for years. As far as shot stopping, quick reaction saves Nicky is second to none on those kind of plays. He really is an outstanding keeper and I’m glad he’s on my team.

Prost Amerika: You guys haven’t scored for a while. When you see a goalkeeper like that, does a part of you think ‘I kind of fancy him if there’s a penalty shootout’?

Will Johnson: I don’t think we’re thinking about that quite yet. I think we fancy ourselves at home to get a goal. But if it does come to that, we know how good he is at those as well, so we’ll prepare for all sorts of scenarios this week. We’ll look at the tape and see how we can get a goal, but it is nice to have that ace in the pocket for sure.

Canadian Neutrality. Will Johnson is monumentally disinterested in the post game shenanigans between Alvaro Saborio and Osvaldo Alonso
