Vancouver Whitecaps fans bid their own farewell to Eric Hassli, their mercurial French striker who was traded late on Friday to rivals Toronto.

In the 29th minute of their home tie with San Jose Earthquakes, the fans raised an “Eric Hassli” chant and the banner pictured above.

Vancouver went on to surprise the league leaders with a 2-1 win which narrows the Western Conference table considerably.

Dane Richards scored a fine solo goal, demonstrating his scorching pace, before Barry Robson slammed home a penalty kick. Alan Gordon had equalised in between those goals.
