The events surrounding EPL’s high profile battle with allegations of racism have taken a nasty turn.
Sky Sports are reporting that QPR’s Anton Ferdinand has received a bullet in the mail. Ferdinand is the player involved in accusations of racism against John Terry, the Chelsea Captain.
The envelope was addressed to Anton Ferdinand and sent to Queens Park Rangers. The sides have not mid since the game where Terry was accused of racially abusive language to Ferdinand, a cousin of Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand.
The sides have been drawn together in this weekend’s FA Cup tie amid further high profile publicity of the issue.
Terry has been charged by the police and is due to appear in court later this month on charges of racially abusing Ferdinand, after investigations by the police confirmed sufficient evidence to proceed with the case to the English Crown Prosecution service.
To make matters worse for the FA, Liverpool have drawn Manchester United while Liverpool’s Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is still serving an eight match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra. The FA have put their investigation into Terry on hold pending the outcome of the court case.
All four sides have been releasing statements appealing for calm among their supporters ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
