Madrid Will Host the Final this Year

France will have at least one representative in the UEFA Champions League semi-final after Lyon and Bordeaux came out of the bowl first and second. In another intriguing tie, Thierry Henry will follow David Beckham and Jose Mourinho, by returning to his English Alma Mater, when Barcelona visit Arsenal.

Conquerors of Chelsea, Inter Milan must have been overjoyed to have pulled sole Russian representative CSKA Moscow, but the over all Lucky Lucies are Manchester United who have managed to avoid both Barcelona and Inter Milan until the final.

They play Bayern Munich first, and the winners of that tie will play the French survivors. With Barcelona and Manchester United on form in their leagues and this competition, many experts are predicting a repeat of last year’s final, now that they have been kept apart.

In the Europa League, Benfica v Liverpool is the plum tie. Surprise 4-1 conquerors of Juventus, Fulham did well to draw VFL Wolfsburg , and Valencia v Atletico Madrid is an all Spanish tie.

If they proceed, Fulham may play another Bundesliga side, if SV Hamburg can over come surprise Belgian qualifiers Standard Liege.

Could ManU have a better draw?

Anyway, that Arsenal v Barça match should at least be pretty.
