Sounders Reserves 4 : 0 Seattle U
The Sounders Reserve side over came a plucky University outfit 4-0 at QWest Field this afternoon. Three first half goals, two from Roger Levesque and one from Mike Fucito put the game beyond doubt before the interval. Pat Ianni added the fourth with what would best be describes as a looper.
Nathan Sturgis restarted from where he left off in Vancouver and it surely cannot be much longer that inquiring minds want to discover how he would fare against top class opposition. Jeff Parke continued to look MLS and, perhaps more relevantly for this season, Sounders class. Zach Scott and James Riley had competent if quiet stints at the back.
Roger Levesque did enough in the first 45 minutes to remind observers why he has made it this far and overcome obstacles. For the newcomers, Ellis McLoughlin looks useful if not somewhat raw. Tye Perdido will probably half better half hours in his career before much longer.
Overall, it was a decent work out and emphasises the importance of competitive reserve games. However coupled with Sounders relatively lacklustre performance against Portland last night, we can’t help but wonder if the uncertainty about the season start is beginning to affect players subconsciously.
