Water Guest! Hanauer (r) With Coach Schmid at the Barcelona Game

Sounders FC General Manager Adrian Hanauer has become the latest guest to agree to appear on the Prost Amerika Soccer Q&A at the Baltic Room.

Hanauer joins Fox Soccer Channel’s Jeremy St Louis, Sounders FC Broadcaster and new Kitsap Pumas Head Coach Peter Fewing and Sandy Hunt, FIFA’s Match Observer for the area.

Among his many other duties, he is widely credited, along with Technical Director Chris Henderson, with building the Sounders side in the first season, having traveled the world watching talent. Adrian Hanauer is also the general manager of the only democratic sports organisation, and has to be voted back in by the members of Sounders FC every four years, a unique position in North American sports, and modeled on the constitution of FC Barcelona.

Sounders FC have become the benchmark for expansion franchises and have made such an impact in their opening year that no less than Peter Kenyon, then Chief Executive of Chelsea FC said Sounders FC had become the ‘Flagship of the MLS’ in their first year. (Sounders are the Flagship of the MLS). Earlier this week, MLS Commissioner Don Garber said Sounders FC had provided the blueprint for all future clubs. It was Adrian Hanauer who perhaps more than any other individual is responsible for this.

Adrian’s late addition is all the more generous as the MLS Cup Final weekend contains a packed agenda of meetings for club General Managers and is used by MLS as a focal point for all the owners, general manager and MLS Officials to congregate and shape the direction of the league for the next season.

Party Now Taking Final Shape (not that we’re ruling out any more surprises)

The event now has its final shape. The Soccer Panel will begin at 3.15 and Manuela Horn will perform after that and guests will be able to watch her as well as continue the debates and arguments arising from the panel. Over 100 tickets have been sold and the Baltic Room has increased the capacity to accommodate the high demand.

Included in the $13 advance ticket price is free food provided by Uli’s Sausages of Pike Place Market, and cooked by Ryan Donaldson, chef of the Stone House Restaurant in Redmond, Winner of the King5 Best of Western Washington New Restaurant award, selected in a poll voted in by over 190,000 Washingtonians. Peak’s Frozen Custard are supplying quality ice cream for free, and North Star Fine Coffee will be supplying their new KICK Coffee, a brew created specifically for soccer fans for free too.

Other sponsors are Karen Balkin Fine Homes, OSA Soccer Academy and Dr Jeff Harris, Naturopathic Healthcare Services. There are other Supporters Summit events continuing well into the night including an ECS event at Fuel, and a pub crawl starting at the Elysian Fields.
