Kevin Stott will Get to Meet an Old Friend again

Kevin Stott will Get to Meet an Old Friend again

When the referee blows his whistle to signify the end of the MLS Cup Final between Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles Galaxy, it will end a remarkable year of top flight football in the Emerald City. We can now reveal that the official who will bring it all to an end is Kevin Stott. Although no-one at MLS would confirm this, very reliable sources would not deny it either.

Stott has appeared just once this year at Qwest taking charge of the 2-0 win over San Jose on April 25 .

Sounders fans though will have seen him a few more times. He also took control of the Sounders away games with finalists Real Salt Lake which Sounders lost 1-0, the Sounders’ 4-0 thumping in San Jose, and the 1-0 defeat at Chivas USA very early in the season.

In fact, as a much younger man, he was given a Portland v Seattle Sounders game back in 2003, which the Timbers won 1-0.

Perhaps his biggest occasion, at least in this area so far may have been the Brazil v Canada game at Qwest Field on May 31 2008. Brazil won an enthralling encounter 3-2 and as the last neutral game held at Qwest Field, provides us with the best hope for a role model. A repeat of that game would be most welcome.
