Rapids Pick up Two Points from Six against San Jose

Colorado Rapids 1 : 1  San Jose Earthquakes

sjearthquakes Outrage in San Jose will reach fever pitch as they were denied victory for the second time in six days by a late penalty award. Once more they were cruising to a narrow 1-0 win over Colorado Rapids. Referee Ricardo Salazar had given the Quakes a 67tn minute penalty award after substitute Pat Noonan handled Simon Elliot’s free kick. But if  Chris Wondolowski’s 67th minute conversion of it may have gone part of the way to erase the Quakes anger at the 94th minute award to Colorado at Buck Shaw last Friday, subsequent events showed them that lightening does strike twice.

Jason Hernandez was adjudged to have fouled Omar Cummings, and for the second time in a week, Conor Casey found himself charged with converting a 12-yard still ball in injury time to deny San Jose victory, to the frustration of his rivals for top scorer, Sounders FC, DC United, New England Revs, Chivas USA, Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake.

The draw takes Colorado onto 38 points equal with Seattle Sounders (who have a better head-to-head), one ahead of Chivas  and two ahead of DC United.
