Chivas Victory Sends Seattle Down to Fourth
Chivas USA are back. Having failed to pick up any MLS points for nine weeks, they returned to winning ways by beating lowly New York Red Bulls last week. Most teams do, so that left the question open of whether it was a flash in the pan or the Los Angeles side was really back on track to their superb early season form.
Last night, they laid that question to rest with an impressive 2-0 win over Toronto FC. Sacha Kljestan scored his first two goals of the season and new signings Jesús Padilla and Maicon Santos made their first starts for the Goats in their first home win since they beat the Sounders on June 6. Three players Jesse Marsch, Maykel Galindo and Santos recorded their first assists of the season, and goalkeeper Lance Parker recorded his first ever shut-out.
LA Galaxy with David Beckham and Landon Donovan back drew 0-0 with DC United. In the other game, a last minute Chris Wondolowski winner secured recovering San Jose all three points against Kansas City Wizards.
As well as Sounders match in Houston, Real Salt Lake are in Boston to play on form New England, Colorado Rapids visit Chicago Fire and FC Dallas are in New York to play off form Red Bulls.
