Sing When You're Twinning - Sainey has been relishing this Game for Months

On the eve of a match more eagerly awaited in Gambia, than any other in MLS history, Prost Amerika spoke with New England’s Sainey Nyassi about the upcoming game against his twin brother Sanna’s Seattle Sounders.

PROST AMERIKA: What aspects of your game are you a better player?

SAINEY NYASSI:
I think we’re kind of the same player. He’s got the speed, I got the speed. We have the same qualities, I can safely say. Just taking on players I think that’s our habit.

PROST AMERIKA: This is the last new side the Sounders will face. It’s taken some time for this match to arrive. Have you been looking out for it since the fixture list came out?

SAINEY NYASSI: Yes, since last year. As soon as the fixtures came out we were looking forward to it. Even when we were at home, we were talking about it, how exciting it will be.

PROST AMERIKA: You guys got a friendly bet on this one then?

SAINEY NYASSI: We have a bet on the game. I think it It was two bets. Who will get the first goal and I happen to get that one. It was $50, and we have another on this game.

PROST AMERIKA: Tell us how your international career for Gambia is progressing please.

SAINEY NYASSI: I think I was called up for the 1st time three or four months back. We went to France and the tournament was canceled because of the bad weather, but it was really exciting to be called up for the national team.

PROST AMERIKA: Is it the ultimate dream for you and Sanna to play for Gambia together?

SAINEY NYASSI: It is a dream. We been dreaming about it since we were too young to play. Now that we’ve graduated from the youth level. we waiting for the call up. I was called up a few months ago and he wasn’t. Now that he’s signed for the Sounders, they’ll look out for him.

PROST AMERIKA: Is there a lot of interest back in Bwiam for this match?

SAINEY NYASSI: Yeah, a lot of people will be watching, my mom and friends, everybody back home. The whole of Gambia will be watching.
