All sorts of people are welcome in the Sounders fan club and now there are all sorts of places for them to watch the games. On Saturday, some of Sounders FC’s youngest fans gathered at the Azzurri Wine Bar to cheer on the rave green in action. Accompanied by their mums, dads, and even irritating little sisters, they joined up with teenage ravers, grown up kids and some people who didn’t wake up Sounders fans to enjoy the game.

The Sounders FC Meet Up Group in conjunction with the Emerald City Supporters has proven you can have it all, by providing an alternative to the noisy carnival type viewing parties for those who want to recreate the Brougham End at away matches.

To complement those Meetups, the ECS and Sounders Meetup are focusing on providing a family-friendly alternative where Sounders fans can meet and cheer, but also know that their children are welcome.

Single mother Linda Pennington said, “This is just what I have been looking for. Now I can watch the team with other fans but not have to worry about babysitters or my son being welcome. I hope it catches on. It’s a great way to meet other Sounders and soccer fans.”

By the end of the game, numbers were being exchanged and plans were already being made to meet up before and after home games. Not everyone attending though was a casual soccer fan. Intense degrees of tactical analysis were also being conducted as knowledgeable teenage fans swapped theories with others as to why each substitution or play went down the way it did. The ECS in conjunction with this site also produced a first for an away game viewing party, a match guide. Special menus were printed out which included our match previews, the team line-ups and a welcome message from Keith Hodo, Vice President of the ECS.

After the success of the family party, Hodo told us, “I am delighted this was such a success. It just shows that the ECS is for every Sounders fan.”
