Closed Door Friendly on Thursday is Last Practice

March 10

Sounders FC play a friendly against Colorado Rapids on Thursday at Qwest Field. Like the Vancouver friendly, the public are not permitted to watch. Oddly they are still terming it an exhibition match! It’s the last game before they take the field for the first time against New York Red Bulls a week later.

Ins and outs from Sounders FC

Joining the team for training this week are Freddy Ljungberg, Peter Vagenas and invitees Mike Randolph and Tom Taiwo. Randolph, a defender, played a total of 39 regular season games for the L.A. Galaxy the past two seasons. He started 15 games in both 2007 and 2008, but was waived by L.A. two weeks ago. Taiwo, a 19-year-old midfielder, is under contract to Chelsea and has played on loan to Port Vale in England. No longer training with Seattle since the return home from Argentina are Evan Bush, Ryan Caugherty, Jeff Clark, Michael Fucito and Jared Karkas.

Training Room Report

Steve Zakuani (ankle) has been limited to partial training during the past week but is improving. Zakuani will focus on fitness and will rejoin full training on Wednesday. Taylor Graham (foot) underwent an MRI and scan last week. He will not train this week and is out indefinitely. Roger Levesque (back) has been limited to partial training. Peter Vagenas (knee) and Freddie Ljungberg (hip) will participate in partial training and controlled drills to begin the week. Jarrod Smith (hip flexor) has been placed on injured reserve.
