ECS Calls on all Sounders Fans to Show their Support on Friday
Seattle is buzzing with football talk, by which of course we mean soccer. From the Governor of Washington State, Christine Gregoire, to the casual observer seeing Seattle ‘scarved’ last Friday, everyone in the Emerald City knows something big is happening.
The club likes to use the phrase “The World’s Game is Coming to Seattle” but it appears that the world’s game is doing more than just that. It’s taking over Seattle. Sounders FC have sold more tickets than the Mariners, and sports stores report to Prost Amerika that the heavier traffic is in Sounders merchandise. Now you can take part in the buzz before matchday itself.
The Emerald City Supporters club (ECS) is asking all Sounders Fans to take their scarves to work on Friday. The idea originally came from Dave Clark, editor of Sounder at Heart, as some fans and journalists were discussing how to maintain the incredible atmosphere in the city going between now and closing day.
Keith Hodo, co-organiser of the ECS told us, “ECS want their members to be ambassadors to the public about supporting football in the States. Bring your scarf to work day is just one more way for supporters to spread the love to their co-workers and for ECS’ers to show their loyalty.”
The Emerald City Supporters Club is the main supporters’ group for Sounders FC and currently has 450 members. Hodo predicts they will comfortably reach 500 by opening day. Find out more at the ECS website – weareecs.com.
