3 mins. Montero cross held by Nolly
6. Montero from right finds Nyassi who fires wide right – goal kick
7. Nyassi getting treatment for a nose bang.
15. Even game with no chances. Montero looking dangerous.
16. Corner Seattle on right. Cleared easily. Sounders throw in on left. Seba takes left wing corner, again set piece fails to beat first defender.
Both sides playing 4-4-2
17. Seba corner from right. Again not past first defender.
21. Wesley Charles is clear in box, shoots but Keller makes leg save. Best chance of the match to Caps
24. Ansu Toure fires wide from left. Caps more of a force.
25. Nyassi scuffs shot, goes to Montero who scuffs too.
26. Fredy crosses to Nyassi whose header finds Fredy but is weak. Into Nolly’s arms.
27. Montero shoots over from 25 yards. Mason Trafford at left back handling Nyassi very well.
28. Seb playing left midfield. Riley fouls Toure, bit of a ‘discussion’. FK Caps, 26 yards out on left.
29. Nash back heels to Toure, fires over. Tyrone Marshall wearing thigh protector. Is he fully fit?
31. Nyassi beats Nash great cross, Charles stretches a leg out for crucial clearance. Offside flag catches Nyassi offside. Close one.
About 30 people here excluding teams, staff and press. Slick passing by Sounders
37. GOAL Freddy feeds Jaqua, who chests and controls, and he beats Nolly for 1-0
39. GOAL. Jaqua again after Nolly saves Seba header at point blank but Nate first to the rebound, all from Nyassi’s cross on right.
41. Nice 1-2 between Montero and Le Toux but Fredy shoots over.
42. Sun’s out. The Bluest skies are watching the game with me. Fredy finds Seb on right, great pass. Finds Nate but Nolly times his run perfectly off the Caps goalline to foil the hat trick attempt.
43. Sounders subs all stripping off. Alonso having influential game linking passes between Jaqua and defenders.
45. Graham takes a knock but gets up. HALF TIME.
Can I give a big shout to all our readers in Beautiful British Columbia. Thanks for loggin in. A good first half with Alonso doing himself some good, Fredy is quick, Sanna always a danger. Keller made his only save. Graham and Marshall coped well. For Caps, Mason Trafford, Charles and Reda playing well and Nolly has made some good saves.
Thanks to Lars Lifrack of Football365 for his first half insight. Big thank you too to the staff of Vancouver Whitecaps sitting on my left, keeping me informed about all things Whitecapesque.
Caps coming back out, for second half.
Looking out for subs. No changes to Sounders. For Caps, Arze out, Burgess in, Versailles out, Gage in. Knight out for Lyall Martin coming on.
1.05 second half kicks off.
47. Charles off for Caps thru injury and Justin Thompson on.
50. Montero fouls Reda in the Caps box and the Caps stuff think him lucky as Fredy was clean through on Nolly. A definite foul for me though.
51. Riley fouled by Gage on right, FK Sounders. Sturgis curls straight into Nolly’s mitts.
54. Alonso breaks up good Caps passing move. He’s a good ‘un defensively. Fk after Evans fouls Gbeke outside the box. Toure curls over.
57. Caps sub Hirano Takashi replaces Trafford.
59. Fredy wins a battle for possession but his feed to Nyassi is overlong.
60. Hour gone. No sign of subs but Riles has shown a powerful throw. It’s sunny again. Nolly easily collects a left wing cross from Seba.
61. Nolly’s chest saves Jaqua shot. Roger on for Nyassi.
63. Keller forced into action after poor back pass. He just gets there before Reda. Fredy good cross from right but Thompson leaps highest to clear.
64. Fredy feeds Jaqua who brilliantly beats offside trap but instead of shooting he squares to Le Toux who is offside. Very silly indeed, but a good ball by Montero. Le Toux did out the ball into an open goal.
65. FK Seattle on right – 30 yards out. Montero shoots and Nolly’s chest saves unconventionally.
67. GOAL 3-0. Roger gets the assist but squares to Montero who stays onside and fires past Nolly. A good goal and Roger is working very hard.
68. GOAL4-0 Montero blasts in from an angle on the right after an earlier long range shot cannons off a defender.
69, Wholesale changes for Seattle. We’ll blog them one by one. Jeff Clark, Kevin Forrest, Ryan Caugherty, Tyson Wahl, Evan Brown, Densill Theobald, Patrick Ianni, Stephen King are all on.
70. Roger has two shots blocked. Philip Davies on for Toure for Caps.
71. Edwini-Bonsu for Nash. 3 residency players in Caps midfield. Caugherty more central role than in Portland.
76. Ethan Gage fouled while dribbling towards his own goal. Many of the Sounders on don’t have contracts, so there is a sudden change of pace about things.
78. Caps staff are exchanging expletives by text mail but they have a free kick. Davies wastes.
80. Haber dribbles into Sounders box but cross goes astray, At the other end, Theobald brings great save from Nolly. Corner. Wahl overshoots another set piece. Not our strong point.
83. Evan Brown dribbles into box on right. A good attacking left back.
85. Burgess good cross Keller saves. Roger bursts through and hits the right post. He would so love a goal.
86. FK on right for Seattle. Wahl takes left footed. Nolly catches a defender’s back header.
88. Evan Brown flattened by Burgess. Takes a while to get up. FK Seattle in middle of Caps half. Ends up in Nolly’s hands.
89. Gbeke goes down in area. No penalty. Injury time being played. Not much of that.
Off for interviews. Some interesting views from Kasey and Sigi. Full report and quotes later.

English Premier League Preview
Come on, clean sheet!
What do we think, is Jacqua going to get his trick? It’s nearing the time when Sigi likes to sub.
Cheers to Prostamerika for covering this match as a Whitecaps supporter look forward to more Seattle and Vancouver matches soon
Thanks IsawFL, we have someone on it.
Thanks for once again having the best blog Prostamerika
I wish the front office would have let some people in
Someone should tell matty g that he forgot Nyassi in his starting lineup.
SO how many ‘people’ managed to get is as viewers, Steve?
Here’s hoping for another French connection like we saw down in Portland on Friday.
Cornchops,
Toughest game by far. Whitecaps ripped us a new body part last year at Starfire and were best side in the USL. This will be competitive.
How do folks think the level of competition from the Whitecaps stacks up against our previous preseason foes?
We’ve only lost to San Jose, but some of our opponents were pretty tame. The Whitecaps are the cream of the crop from the USL, with their two title in the last three years. Plus, there’s the rivalry factor.
Will this be our toughest preseason match yet?
Sux that we can’t watch them. Like they’re taunting us. Makes me look forward to March 19 all the more.
Anybody interest in breaking into Qwest and hiding out over night? No? Oh well, I guess live blogging will do. Is it march 19 yet?
Come on you Sounders!
Will be interesting to see (even if we can’t see) how the Caps measure up to a nearly MLS ready team.
